Bourne film leads Choice awards

Matt Damon film The Bourne Ultimatum leads the 34th annual People's Choice Awards after landing three nominations.

The spy thriller is up for favourite film, favourite action movie and favourite "threequel".

Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp is nominated for best male movie star and favourite male action star - categories he won last year.

The winners, voted for by the American public, will be announced at a ceremony in Los Angeles on 8 January.

Depp, who stars in the Pirates of the Caribbean series, takes on Bourne series leading man Damon in the favourite male action star category, along with Bruce Willis.

Willis is also nominated alongside Depp for the best male movie award, with Denzel Washington also in contention.

Pirates of the Caribbean: World's End will also compete against The Bourne Ultimatum in the favourite movie and favourite "threequel" categories.

Jessica Alba, star of films such as Sin City and Fantastic Four, landed two nominations - favourite leading lady and favourite female action star.

In the TV categories, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, House, Law and Order: SVU are up for favourite TV drama.

Sally Field, Katherine Heigl and Jennifer Love Hewitt are nominated in the favourite female TV star category.

Patrick Dempsey, Charlie Sheen and Kiefer Sutherland compete in the best male TV star category.

Music nominations include Beyonce, Fergie and Gwen Stefani for best female singer and John Mayer, Tim McGraw and Justin Timberlake for best male.

Daughtry, Maroon 5 and Rascal Flatts are nominated for favourite group.
